Client: Housing Development Board (HDB)
Main Contractor: Koon Construction & Transport Co Pte Ltd
Project Details:
Restoration of shorelines along East Coast Park and Pasir Ris Park located on the Eastern and North Eastern part of Singapore respectively is implemented by HDB with the intention to reinstate and to extend the breakwater stone structures (headlands).
Soft rock revetments using large sand filled geotextile containers (0.75m3) built in a double layer, stretcher bond concept incorporating a flexible self-healing toe was constructed to restore the eroded beachlines.
ELCOROCK containers with a “RP” vandal deterrent composite fabric were used on all exposed faces and surfaces of the soft rock revetment to enhance the amenity, aesthetics and durability of the installation. The “RP” material is designed to behave like an artificial sport turf interface by allowing a high ingress of sand particles into the outer layer of the composite matrix thus protecting itself and providing an aesthetically pleasing and well blended solution.
Filling of the sand filled geotextile containers was carried out using a small excavator and filling frame. Closure of the ELCOROCK containers was performed through a hand held sewing machine by double seaming utilizing high quality polyester yarns.
The following works were successfully constructed by Green Cosmos:
- 180m length of soft rock revetment at Headland No. 1 - East Coast Park;
- 2 lengths of soft rock revetment, 55m each at Headland No.14 – Pasir Ris Park;
- 40m length of soft rock revetment at Headland No.3 - Pasir Ris Park.
